When it all boils down to love

Not until we're stripped down to our bare basics, do we realize life is all about love.

Being trapped down a mineshaft for 18 days, a Chilean miner didn't ask for food or rescue in a letter he sent up to his family. Instead, he said, "I haven't stopped thinking about all of you for a single moment."

Those very words kept lingering on my mind as news about the Manila hostage tragedy went sprawling the internet.

It's a saddening irony how the sacked cop attempted to get his job back by jeopardizing others' lives, while a loving husband and father was willing to sacrifice his to protect his family.

The filipino should be held accountable, that's for sure.

But let's face it, aren't we all a bit like him in one way or another?

Instead of a gun, we hurt each other with lies, degrading words and ignorance.

Instead of total strangers from a different race, we inflict pain on people whom we're most connected to, let alone those related by blood.

Before it's too late, show your love to the people around you.

Go and do all you can to patch things up and bury the hatchet.

Because one day you'll realize, life is all about love.
